This page is mainly about my research into computer security and forensics, among other things applying machine learning and information visualization. My first application of these techniques were in the area of intrusion detection which is a field within the larger subject of computer security.

I am currently an associate professor at NTNU, The Norwegian University of Science and Technology, placed in Gjövik, in southern Norway and also a senior lecturer (docent) at Blekinge Institute of Technology in south eastern Sweden.

Short bio:

I have been performing research and working in industry with security since 1996. My research was performed at Chalmers University of Technology, Gothenburg, Sweden, and my work in industry mainly with Ericsson (also in Gothenburg, Sweden).

I received my PhD in Computer Science at Chalmers University of Technology in January of 2005. Faculty opponent was Prof. John McHugh and my supervisor was Prof. David Sands. My thesis was titled: Understanding Intrusion Detection Through Visualisation

P.S. Unfortunately Stefan.Axelsson.googlepages.com was already taken, hence the addition of my academic title to the name of the website. It's not for show, honest... I mean, almost everybody I know have a at least a PhD so it's nothing much to brag about.
